I started my employment with Simms ISD in August of 2003, and I am beginning my 15th year. I teach all aspects of band and music appreciation. I am a member of the campus and district improvement committees.
Before coming to Simms ISD, I taught in my hometown of Silsbee, TX for 8 years, where I was the assistant to my own high school band director. It was a great experience for me to add to my teaching toolbox. I am also a member of the Arkansas Army National Guard, serving with the 106th Army Band from Camp Joseph T. Robinson – North Little Rock, AR.
I am married to the former Annamaria (Annie) Santa Cruz. This December 19th, we will be celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary. We have 3 wonderful sons, David (24), Daniel (22), and James (16). They all have attended James Bowie HS and have grown to love the community and area. James is currently a junior and is the section leader of the percussion section of the JB Pirate Band. We have 2 dogs, Sandy and Romo. We love to be together and have fun. We’ve toured museums, zoos, and many amusement parks as they have grown. There is not much that we are afraid to do as a family!
I enjoy playing golf and disc golf, when I get the chance. I also enjoy yardwork and any construction and home repair projects. I love learning how to fix things or do new things. I consider yardwork as my mental therapy and love to ride the mower and contemplate life. I love spending time with family, even if it is just sitting and watching tv.
